VS FASHION

I wait patiently every year for the Victoria Secret fashion show and every year it gets even better.  I have a dream of participating one day and yes, I am well aware that my dream will never come true.  I'm obsessed with their HUGE and beautiful angel wings.  I'm sure I would struggle trying to keeps the wings up.  It always amazes me how creative they get every year with their costumes.  Although, I love Katy Perry's music I do not love her fashion.  She always wears the tackiest clothes and I'm ready for her to mature starting with her hair.  Only a few more minutes until the show begins!!!

Here are a few of my favorite from previous fashion shows...

21

My first legal drink--Monaco Margarita on the rocks
On November the 25th I turned 21 years old.  I have been waiting for this day to arrive for years and I feel like I should have been 21 years ago since a lot of my friends are older than me.  Now, I am no longer the party pooper that can't get into the bars and now I'm no longer the only one that can be the DD!  I am so excited to be able to participated with my friends and not having anything to hold me back.
my beautiful cake from my fabulous mom!
I kind of sucked that my birthday fell on Thanksgiving this year considering everybody was out of town but my friends and I still managed to have a splendid time.  I got to spend all day with my family and then that night my close friends and I went to the Scene Lounge and Bridgestreet.  The Scene Lounge is one of my favorite spots because it has a great atmosphere, great food, and great drinks.  I am so blessed to have such good friends that put their plans on hold so I could have a marvelous birthday celebration.  I feel like your 21st birthday should be special and my friends and family def. helped make it special.
One of my presents and I also received DDF microdermabrasion, money, and a beautiful Brahmin purse

Since this was such a big day for me I decided to rent a Rebecca Taylor dress from renttherunway.com and I'm so glad I did!  Since it was my first time doing business with them I was a little hesitant about the service and product but it was great!  They have tons of brand name dresses for every occasions and you can rent them for a min. of 4 days.  They send you two sizes just incase one size doesn't fit right and they pay for the dry cleaning and for shipping it back to them.  Why didn't they have this website when I was in prom??  I will def. use this website in the future and I recommend it to any girl looking for a beautiful dress!

WINE

It's always so relaxing to drink a glass of wine out of beautiful wine glasses with some chocolate while watching your favorite t.v. shows.  Yesterday, my mom, aunt, best friend, and I went to Arrington Vineyards in Tennessee.  It has always been something that I've wanted to do and I had so much fun and can not wait to go back!!  The vineyard was beautiful and had an amazing atmosphere.  One of the owners is Kix Brooks from the country group, Brooks and Dunn.  I was hoping he would be there since it was the weekend of Christmas Open House.  When you arrive to the vineyard you put your name on a waiting list for the wine tasting and while you wait you can sip on some wine and eat crackers and cheese.  I would love to go back in the spring when it's warmer and bring some food and have a picnic on the picnic tables outside.  I recommend everyone to take a trip out to Tennessee to visit the beautiful Arrington Vineyards.  A bottle of wine starts at $17 and goes up.  I seem to be a cheap wine girl because the more expensive wines seem too dry for me and that is just fine with me!

be thankful

Every year my family and I normally go to South Carolina for Thanksgiving.  I was very disappointed when I received the news that we would be staying home this year due to my dad's eye surgery.  This ended up being great because I was able to spend Thanksgiving with both sides of my family instead of just my dad's.  Thanksgiving is all about counting your blessings and cherishing the ones you love.

I am thankful for...

Friends

I can't express how much I appreciate the support I have from my friends.  They are my rock and they along with my family keep me going.  I would much rather have a few best friends than a bunch of fake friends.  I've had friends that I've grown up with and recently I've made some great new friends that I know would do anything for me and I would also do anything for them.

Family Fun

My beautiful mother and I

My top priority in life is my family and friends.  I realize that my family will always be there for me no matter what and will always respect my decisions.  This past weekend was filled with lots of excitement with my wonderful momma, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, and cousins.  I will always cherish the memories made with them and I couldn't have asked for a better weekend!  My mom and I went shopped til we dropped, went and ate dinner at Cantina Loredo, and watched Sex and the City 2.  That is one of my favorite movies and I wish one day I could live the life of Carrie Bradshaw.  I dream of owning a closet like hers with all the vintage and designer clothes and having a job working for Vogue Magazine.

“As we drive along this road called life, occasionally a gal will find herself a little lost. And when that happens, I guess she has to let go of the coulda, shoulda, woulda, buckle up and just keep going.” --SJP

I hope everyone had a great and successful weekend!

Got Safety Pins?

Meadham Kirchhoff  added a touch of safety pins to the black pants on the right.
Vena Cava Spring 2010:Safety Pin dress!
Safety Pin bow tie brooch by Augustine Wong

Safety Pin dress by Gareth Pugh
I am loving this new trend of simply adding safety pins to basic pieces of clothing to make it a bit unique.  It's a lot of fun to come up with different ways and designs to bring a whole new look!  And the best thing about it?  It's a one of a kind piece that not everybody is wearing!  I'm a big believer in being a leader not a follower.  I decided to give it a try with a basic white tee.  It took a few hours to complete but it was well worth the time.  I bought several different size and color safety pins with a total of about 400 to 450.  I placed some cardboard in between the shirt to prevent safety pinning through the other side and then I got some tape to tape out the design I wanted so it would be even.  I did the top layer with the pins facing upwards and the bottom layer with the pins facing downwards.  It's very simple yet very time consuming.
This top would be perfect with skinny jeans, boots or flats, and a leather biker jacket.
Ta-Da!!!  What will your safety pin project be?
